The University Lodge of Liverpool was formed from the staff, graduates and students of the University of Liverpool. The Lodge was consecrated in October 1921 and with the expansion of University education now provides local coverage to Liverpool, Liverpool John Moore’s, Hope and Edge Hill Universities.   We are not however restricted to just those Establishments.

The Lodge is also open to men with similar academic or professional connections or qualifications as well as those who are students, graduates or staff of Liverpool and other universities. It is a member of the United Grand Lodge of England’s Universities’ Scheme set up specifically ‘to establish and/or enhance arrangements and opportunities for undergraduates and other university members to enjoy Freemasonry.’ We welcome members of all religions and ethnic backgrounds who have a belief in a single Supreme Being. The earliest age to join Freemasonry is 18 provided you are not still in school but have either started employment or in our case a student in higher education. The Lodge meets, and dines, six times per year on the second Mondays of October, November, December, February, March and April in the Athenaeum Club on Church Alley Liverpool (off the main shopping street of Church Street towards the Bluecoat Building).

The Lodge was one of the early members of the UGLE Universities Scheme and is also one of the AMUL Lodges (Association of Medical, University and Legal Lodges)
